Live-Life-Long

Live-Life-Long is a medical treatment that offers a “miracle cure” for aging, memory loss and some related symptoms, consisting of injections and pills. It was created by three doctors: Harold Sternwood, Julian Marcus and Raymond Corbett, all of them graduates of Ross University in Barbados. It is, of course, a scam.

The injections seem more or less harmless vitamin shots, but the pills seem to be a more or less random assortment of placebos and more dangerous drugs, including a synthetic version of phenobarbitol, adderall, turmeric and gingko biloba. The greed of these three ‘doctors’ caused at least one death (a patient driven to suicide by the effects of the drugs) and put another patient in a coma, before they were brought to justice.

Origin: Bitter Pill by Fern Michaels.
